Russia's scrap exports jumped 18% in April, says trade data

The most recent trade statistics released by Russia indicates that the country’s scrap exports increased during the month of April this year.

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): The most recent trade statistics released by Russia indicates that the country’s scrap exports increased during the month of April this year. According to trade data, Russia exported 434,000 tonnes of scrap during April this year. The exports during the month were higher by 20.3% when compared with the exports during the previous month. Also, on year-on-year comparison, the exports during Apr ’14 were up 17.9%.

The largest export destination of Russian scrap was Turkey. The Russian exports to Turkey totaled 227,000 tons, accounting for more than 50% of the total Russian exports. The Turkish scrap imports from Russia were up 2.8% year-on-year.

The second largest export destination was South Korea. Russia exported 68,000 tonnes of scrap to South Korea during Apr ’14. The imports by South Korea soared 52.4% higher when compared with the exports during the same month a year ago. The South Korean imports accounted for 16% of the total Russian exports.

In third place was Spain, accounting for nearly 15% of the total Russian exports. The exports to Spain were up 27.3% over the same month a year ago to touch 67,000 tonnes during April this year.

Turkey, Spain and South Korea together accounted for nearly 80% of the total Russian.
