China Refined Lead Imports Down 87% Jan.-May

China’s refined lead imports in May of 46 mt fell nearly 70% MoM from April’s 161 mt. YTD imports through May were 83 mt, down 87.09% YoY.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 1 (SMM) - China’s refined lead imports in May of 46 mt fell nearly 70% MoM from April’s 161 mt. YTD imports through May were 83 mt, down 87.09% YoY. 

 
The Shanghai/LME lead price ratio remained around 6.8 during May, still allowing little profit from imports. In addition, ILZSG reported China’s refined lead output was1.46 million mt during the first four months of 2013, which exceeded the 1.4 million mt demand, keeping demand for imported lead low.
