Major Stainless Steel Mills Invites Biddings, NPI Transactions Improve (2013-2-25)

SHANGHAI, Feb. 25 (SMM) -- Mainstream traded prices of NPI (Ni 10-15%) were between RMB 1,140-1,160/mtu, were between RMB 1,165-1,175/mtu for NPI (Ni 6-8%), between RMB 1,170-1,180/mtu for NPI (Ni 4-6%), and between RMB 2,950-3,000/mt for NPI (Ni 1.6-1.7%).
According to SMM sources, large stainless steel mills offered bidding prices for NPI for delivery in March around RMB 1,160/mtu. The stumble of LME nickel prices depressed NPI producers’ bullish expectation. In addition, as NPI inventories built during Chinese New Year holiday need to be consumed, some NPI producers lowered offers of NPI.
