China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2013-1-21)

SHANGHAI, Jan. 21 (SMM) -- Downstream alloy sector remained stable. Inquiries for imported manganese ore were limited, and transactions of manganese ore were largely made in small amounts, with stagnant prices reported. According to SMM sources, overseas manganese ore supplies are optimistic towards Chinese market and they tried to keep prices firm by controlling supply. Some manganese ore arrived at ports, but supply for spot manganese was limited, which was partly due the imported manganese ore was purchased alloy producers and partly due to traders’ reluctance to move goods. However, SMM believes that manganese ore prices are unlikely to remain firm when arrivals increase in middle February.
