China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2013-1-9)

SMM Insight 06:18:54PM Jan 09, 2013 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Jan. 9 (SMM) -- In China’s manganese ore market, inquiries were still brisk, but transactions were limited as traders were reluctant to move goods. According to SMM sources, China’s imports of manganese ore in 2012 slightly fell compared with 2011, but China’s dependence on overseas manganese ore still increased by 2 percentage points. In addition, inventories of manganese ore at ports were still low, further lending support for manganese ore prices.

According to SMM sources, goods were largely purchased by alloy producers and limitedly purchased by traders.

In north ports, transactions for carbonate manganese ore from South Africa slightly increased. In south ports, transactions were limited.
