Rare Earth Prices Stabilize, Transactions Improve

SHANGHAI, Dec. 26 (SMM) – SMM was confirmed the news that China will buy rare earth reserves soon is true. But given sluggish market demand, the purchase will boost prices only modestly. Even if rare earth prices rise, they will not remain firm in future.

According to SMM quotes today, rare earth prices have remained unchanged recently. Didymium prices remained between RMB 290,000-300,000/mt, with praseodymium-neodymium alloy prices between RMB 400,000-410,000/mt. Many cargo holders told SMM inquiries increased and their sales also improved as some market players replenish stocks leading up to the New Year's holiday.
