China Manganese Ore Market Movement (2012-10-26)

Offers for manganese ore from downstream alloy producers were relatively brisk and offers for spot manganese ore slightly increased.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 26 (SMM) -- Offers for manganese ore from downstream alloy producers were relatively brisk and offers for spot manganese ore slightly increased, as expectation over price hike increased amid higher offers from overseas suppliers. In south China ports, mainstream offers of spot manganese ore were till firm, with Australian lump (Mn 48%) between RMB 41.5-42/mtu, but supply of this grade manganese ore was rare.

In north China port, large amounts of mixed manganese carbonate ore (Mn 38%) will arrive at Tianjin port recently, which is largely purchased by downstream alloy producers. This grade manganese ore is offered around RMB 36.5/mtu at Tianjin port. Due to ample supply, it is expected that this grade manganese ore may fall. In south China port, some ore delayed at Indonesian port may be shipped to China on the rumor that Indonesian government loosened export restrictions.
