China Manganese Ore Market (2012-10-23)

Due to supply shortage of mainstream manganese ore, offers of substitutes, such as manganese ore (Gabon, granule, Mn 44-45%) and manganese ore (Brazil, fines, Mn 44-45%), increased.
SHANGHAI, Oct. 23 (SMM) –Offers of manganese ore rose. Due to supply shortage of mainstream manganese ore, offers of substitutes, such as manganese ore (Gabon, granule, Mn 44-45%) and manganese ore (Brazil, fines, Mn 44-45%), increased. Based on result of SMM survey, out shipping was smooth at ports, but most traders were still cautiously optimistic. Alloy producers in south China had low acceptance towards manganese ore price hike due to rising production costs from electricity price hike.
Cargo-holders moved Brazilian manganese ore RMB 1-1.5/mtu higher at Zhanjiang port, and medium and small traders were profitless at current price and shifted to import other ores. In north China ports, supply of mainstream manganese ore was still limited, as traders only imported goods based on orders received.
