China NPI Market Movement (2012-10-18)

Mainstream traded prices of NPI (Ni 10-15%) were between RMB 1,180-1,210/mtu, were between RMB 1,200-1,220/mtu for NPI (Ni 6-8%).

SHANGHAI, Oct.18 (SMM) -- Mainstream traded prices of NPI (Ni 10-15%) were between RMB 1,180-1,210/mtu, were between RMB 1,200-1,220/mtu for NPI (Ni 6-8%), between RMB 1,220-1,240/mtu for NPI (Ni 4-6%), and between RMB 2,800-2,850/mt for NPI (Ni 1.6-1.7%).

Supply of low-grade NPI reduced due to output decline, most low-grade NPI producers hiked offers of high-grade NPI.

However, prices of 201/2b has fallen by RMB 500/mt since September. The price hike of low-grade NP will definitely increase cost pressure for #200 stainless steel producers and may prevent low-grade NPI prices from rising further.
