Most manganese ore traders expected that manganese ore prices will rise in the future as downstream manganese alloy market has recovered and since current imported manganese ore prices are low.

SHANGHAI, Oct.15 (SMM) – Inquires for imported manganese ore were stable from a week earlier. Most manganese ore traders expected that manganese ore prices will rise in the future as downstream manganese alloy market has recovered and since current imported manganese ore prices are low.

In north China ports, traded prices of manganese ore (Brazil, Mn 44-45%, Fe5%, fines) were around RMB 325,000/mtu, and supply of this grade manganese ore was still in shortage. Trading volumes for manganese ore (Gabon, Mn44-45%, lump) were stable but inquiries increased from a week earlier. In south China ports, UMK long-term contract manganese ore will arrive at China’s port in late October, and some traders already began ordering. Most traders were still reluctant to move goods at current low prices, anticipating prices to increase in the future.
