China's power supplies remained steady in September, statistics from the State Electricity Regulatory Commission showed.

BEIJING, Oct. 15 -- China's power supplies remained steady in September, statistics from the State Electricity Regulatory Commission showed.

Power plants generated 394.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in September, while transregional electricity trade totalled 15.27 billion kWh during the period, according to an online statement by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The report said Guangdong, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Shanghai and Shandong were the biggest consumers of power in September.

In the first three quarters, China generated a total of 3.65 trillion kWh of electricity, according to the report.

China's power consumption growth has continued to ease on slowing factory activity amid the economic downturn.

Statistics from the National Energy Administration showed that in the first eight months, China's total electricity consumption grew 5.1 percent year-on-year to 3.28 trillion kWh, further easing from the 5.4-percent growth seen in the first seven months.
