Primary Aluminum Inventories Reach 900,000 Mt

SHANGHAI, Mar. 23 (SMM) -- Zhang Chenguang, an aluminum analyst from SMM Information & Technology Co., Ltd., said on the 7th China Copper & Aluminum Summit that primary aluminum inventories have reached 900,000 mt currently.

According to SMM exclusive statistics, China’s primary aluminum consumption was 20.20 million mt in 2012, while aluminum output was 19.48 million mt, posting a slight supply deficit. China’s primary aluminum consumption in 2012 is expected to reach 22.00 million mt along with growing aluminum consumption by transportation industry and the construction of affordable housing, and aluminum output will reach 21.89 million mt, with aluminum supply and demand expected to be gradually balanced.
