China Copper & Aluminum Summit to Focus on Copper Semis Industry

SHANGHAI, Mar. 6 (SMM) –China's copper semis industry is weak despite a great number of copper semis producers, and faces great difficulties and challenges given sluggish downstream demand and tight cash flows for the time being. Experts in this industry will discuss more about this issue during the 7th China Copper & Aluminum Summit to be held in Shanghai during March 21-23.

Air conditioner inventories are increasing as sales both at home and abroad slide, so can the traditional high demand period for copper tube/pipe industry arrive as expected in March and April? The US and European markets remain sluggish, and market expectations on appreciation of RMB are heightening. Copper semis producers' profits are falling as labor costs increase. How much influence can China's export trends bring to China's copper semis producers?

As a capital intensive industry, copper semis producers' profits were squeezed significantly when the cost of funds was high in 2011. How should copper semis producers develop during 2012, and are structural adjustments challenges or opportunities for them?
