South China Aluminum: Inventories Remain Low, Prices Resilient to Declines

The most active SHFE aluminum contract prices failed to rally and spot aluminum prices continued a weak trend on Thursday.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 22 (SMM) – The most active SHFE aluminum contract prices failed to rally and spot aluminum prices continued a weak trend on Thursday. In South China, goods holders were more reluctant to move goods as inventories remained low. Main transactions were done at RMB 16,020-16,040/mt, showing stronger resilience to declines compared to East China. Downstream demand was stable and transactions were modest.
