China Imports and Exports of Copper and Aluminum in August 2011

SHANGHAI, Sep. 10 (SMM) -- According to the preliminary data from the General Administration of Customs, China's imports of unwrought copper and copper semis were 340,398 mt during August, with YTD imports from January to August at 2,348,240 mt, down 20.5% YoY. China's imports of scrap copper were 380 kt during August, with YTD imports from January to August at 3.01 million mt, up 7.3% YoY.

China's imports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum semis were 70,893 mt in August, with YTD imports from January to August at 601,699 mt, down 8.8% YoY. Alumina imports were 40 kt during August, with YTD imports from January to August at 1110 kt, down 61.3% YoY. China's imports of scrap aluminum were 200 kt during August, with YTD imports from January to August at 1680 kt, down 12% YoY. China's exports of unwrought aluminum were 62,227 mt in August, with YTD exports from January to August at 492,921 mt, up 3.2% YoY.
