US April Copper Output 83,000 Tons, -9.7% On Month - USGS

U.S. domestic production of recoverable mined copper in April was 83,000 metric tons, down 9.7% from 91,900 tons in March, according Wednesday to the U.S. Geological Survey.

LONDON, Aug 31, 2011 (Dow Jones) -- U.S. domestic production of recoverable mined copper in April was 83,000 metric tons, down 9.7% from 91,900 tons in March, according Wednesday to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Production of electrolytic refined copper was down 6.1% on the month in April at 76,800 tons, from 81,800 tons in March.

Average reported daily consumption of refined copper in April was 151,000 tons, up slightly from March. Year-to-date reported consumption of refined copper through April 2011, however, was up slightly from that during the same period of 2010, at 603,000 tons.
