LME zinc prices overnight surged to USD 2,160/mt during Asian trading hours, and generally moved between USD 2,160-2,170/mt.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 12 (SMM)--LME zinc prices overnight surged to USD 2,160/mt during Asian trading hours, and generally moved between USD 2,160-2,170/mt. According to data, the number of US jobless claims for the week ending August 6 fell 7,000, to 395,000. As a result, LME zinc prices rose further to close at USD 2,197/mt, up USD 72/mt. SHFE 1110 zinc contract prices should open higher and stand at RMB 17,000-17,300/mt today, with spot discounts remaining between RMB 100-200/mt due to limited goods supply.
