Lead Output Falls in July, 10 Nonferrous Metals Up 9.8%

SHANGHAI, Aug. 10 (SMM)--National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the July Scale Efficient Industry Operation on August 9.

According to the report, the total output of 10 kinds of nonferrous metals reached 2.93 million mt in July, up 9.8% YoY. YTD output through July was 19.84 million mt, up 9.9% YoY.

With the exception of refined lead falling 4.1% YoY, the output of copper, aluminum, zinc, tin and nickel was up 18%, 13.2%, 11.3%, 9.9% and 55.3% respectively.

Affected by environmental protection inspections, operating rates at lead smelters have remained low since May. Operating rates at medium and large scale smelters in Henan and Hunan province fell to 66% in June, having reduced domestic total lead output.
