CHALCO and non-CHALCO Raised Alumina Prices Consecutively

iconDec 7, 2009 13:16

SHANGHAI Nov. 30 (CBI China)--CHALCO and non-CHALCO aluminum companies raised alumina prices to RMB 3,800/tonne due to stable sales and low inventory levels.  CHALCO raised prices RMB 300/mt, or 8.5%, while non-CHALCO producers raised prices RMB 350 – 400/mt, or 10%.

China's alumina supply had been stable recently, but increased demand for electrolytic aluminum, along with seasonal peak consumption during 4Q have caused alumina  inventories to fall, allowing alumina producers to raise prices.
