MANILA, Sep. 14 -- China's Jinchuan Group Ltd. has revived negotiations to develop the Nonoc nickel mines in the southern Philippines region of Mindanao and construct a refinery at the mine site, a senior industry official said Tuesday.
"They want to pursue their interest in the Philippines," Chamber of Mines of the Philippines President Philip Romualdez said on the sidelines of a mining conference, adding that he met with senior Jinchuan executives in China last week.
Romualdez said the cost of the project, including developing the refinery, could range between $1.2 billion and $1.5 billion.
