Sluggish Silicon Metal Export Market During the European Summer Break

SHANGHAI, July 21 (SMM) -- Europe and the US entered a month-long summer break from mid-July, and purchases from these regions reduced significantly, resulting in extremely sluggish transactions.

According to SMM latest silicon metal FOB Huangpu port, prices for #553 silicon metal were between USD 2,070-2,130/mt, prices for #441 silicon metal were between USD 2,200-2,250/mt, prices for #3303 silicon metal were between USD 2,300-2,350/mt and prices for #2202 silicon metal were between USD 2,400-2,450/mt.

According to SMM statistics, China's exports of silicon metal to the EU and the US accounted for 27.42% of China's total export volumes. Demand for silicon metal from the US and the EU was basically stable between 10,000-16,600/mt. In this context, China's exports of silicon metal to the EU and the US may reduce by 10,000mt during July and August when the EU and the US is in summer break.
