SHANGHAI, Jun. 2 (SMM) -- Demand for silicon metal has not improved in spot exporting market, and transactions were sluggish, resulting in decline of silicon metal prices. SMM latest mainstream FOB Huangpu were between USD 2,050-2,100/mt for #553 silicon metal, between USD 2,140-2,200/mt for #441 silicon metal, between USD 2,270-2,320/mt for #3303 silicon metal, and between USD 2,380-2,430/mt for #2202 silicon metal.
According to SMM sources, most overseas silicon metal consumers believed that current silicon metal prices from China domestic market had not hit the bottom yet, and prices still had room to fall further. In this context, overseas purchasers made purchases only on an as-needed basis, with less than 100 mt of single trading volumes reported in the market. SMM believes that if demand from overseas market continued to be sluggish, # silicon metal FOB Huangpu will fall below the supporting level of USD 2,000/mt.
