Philex Produces 8,021 Oz Gold, 2.76 Mln Pounds Copper In April

MANILA, May 06, 2010 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- Philex Mining Corp. (PX.PH), the Philippines' most profitable miner, said Thursday it produced 8,021 ounces of gold, 2.76 million pounds of copper and 8,274 ounces of silver in April.

The metal was valued at PHP841 million ($18.5 million) in total, and was produced from Philex Mining's Padcal mine in the country's north, the company said in a statement to the stock exchange. Copper concentrate production at Padcal last month totaled 5,000 tons, it said.

The company estimated the value of the gold produced at PHP422 million, the copper output at PHP412 million and the silver output at PHP7 million, based on prevailing metal prices.
