EMM Producers Keep Firm Offers Due to High Costs

SHANGHAI, Jan. 5 (SMM) -- Today, mainstream offers of EMM were in the RMB 14,500-14,700/mt range, and producers kept firm offers due to support of high costs.

According to SMM sources, current prices to factory for manganese ore powder (17%) were at RMB 913/mt in regions of Hunan, Guizhou and Xiushui, and costs increased by 700-800/mt at manganese producers. According to person-in-charge of ore mines in regions of Huanyuan and Songtao, currently, most EMM producers were busy replenishing ore stocks before the Chinese New Year holiday as ore mines will be on holiday from the end of January till the end of February. Supply of ore powers will be reduced since the Government closed many small and medium ore mines for the concern of environmental protection before the Chinese New Year holiday. In this context, prices of ore powder advanced along with increasing purchasing volumes and reducing supply. It is expected that prices of manganese ore powder will not decline before the Chinese New Year holiday.
