SHANGHAI, Nov. 19 (SMM) -- Export prices for silicon metal continued to inch up along with constant increases in domestic prices of silicon metal. Overseas consumers increased purchase volumes due to their concerns that China’s output of silicon metal will likely decline gradually during low-water period.
A trader in Fujian said they have signed an order recently at USD 2,150/mt (FOB) for #441 silicon, at USD 2,260/mt (FOB) for #3303 silicon and at USD 1,980/mt (FOB) for #553 silicon, with goods mainly exported to Canada, Mexico and Middle East.
In China, the electricity prices increased again to RMB 0.49-0.5/kWh, and will grow to greater than RMB 0.5/kWh from the beginning of December in Guizhou province. Local producers said their order prices were RMB 11,500/mt for #553 silicon and RMB 12,700/mt for #3303 silicon currently, with no spot goods available.
SMM believes increase in silicon metal prices will continue.
