The fifth expansion project of the 750 kV Hexi Substation in the Gansu power grid has been successfully completed and put into operation. After the project is commissioned, it is expected to increase the annual transmission of new energy power by 7 billion kWh. The Hexi Substation is located in the middle section of the Hexi Corridor and is an important supporting project for the Jiuquan 10 million kW wind power base. It undertakes the key task of ensuring the safe and stable operation of the central power grid in Gansu Province, while also being responsible for the absorption and transmission of wind power, thermal power, and PV power in the Hexi region. Since its establishment in September 2010, the Hexi 750 kV Substation has undergone five expansions. This expansion added a new 2,100 MVA main transformer, along with the construction of high, medium, and low voltage distribution devices for the main transformer, as well as related protection, monitoring, and fire-fighting facilities, increasing the total capacity of the transformers to 6,300 MVA.
