SMM Spot Copper: Inventory Accumulation Pressures Weaken Spot Premiums

[SMM Spot Copper] During the day, mainstream standard-quality copper was quoted at a discount of 10 yuan/mt to a premium of 20 yuan/mt against the front-month contract, while high-quality copper was quoted at a premium of 20 yuan/mt to 50 yuan/mt. According to an SMM survey, there was an inventory buildup trend in the Shanghai area from Monday to Thursday this week. Although smelter inventories in surrounding areas were relatively low and social inventories were also declining, the large inflow of imported copper still caused slow destocking in the Shanghai area, resulting in significant resistance to spot premiums. Spot premiums are expected to weaken slightly tomorrow.
