SMM reported on October 15 that according to data released by South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT on the 14th, the country's exports of information and communication technology (ICT) in September this year increased by 36.3% year-on-year to $22.36 billion, maintaining a growth trend for 11 consecutive months and hitting the second-highest monthly record in history. By sector, thanks to the surge in server investment fueled by the wave of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, semiconductor exports reached $13.63 billion, setting a new record high. Among them, memory semiconductor exports soared 60.7% year-on-year to $8.72 billion, while system semiconductor exports increased by 5.2% to $4.37 billion. According to the Ministry of Science and Technology's analysis, the increase in demand for high-value-added products such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM) has driven a surge in memory semiconductor exports, contributing to the record-high semiconductor export value.
