Operating Rates at Silicon Metal Plants in Yunnan Rose Rapidly

On the supply side, the operating rate in Yunnan has risen rapidly. According to SMM data, 61 furnaces were in production in Yunnan on June 30, and the number of operating furnaces increased to 102 as of July 5. Silicon metal enterprises in Sichuan have been slow to resume production, and some silicon metal factories in Ebian Yi Autonomous County, Leshan City reduced production due to power rationing.

This year, due to the shortage of hydropower in Sichuan and the impact of high temperatures, some silicon metal enterprises reported that the electricity price in July rose slightly by 0.02 yuan/kWh compared to June.

In Xinjiang, due to the gradual production resumption of a small number of thermal insulation production capacity of large factories, the operating rate increased slightly. For silicon companies outside the three main production areas, the operating rates remained low and there was almost no plant resuming production due to the low silicon price and poor profits.
