Japan's Daido Steel announced on February 6 that the prices of nickel-based stainless steel billets and extrusion (round billets, shaped steel, flat steel) shipped to the Janpanese market and foreign markets were raised by 10-25% based on the different alloy contents such as nickel and molybdenum, while the prices of chromium-based stainless steel remained unchanged, which will take effect since contracts signed in February 2023 (goods will be shipped in April). Among nickel-based products, the prices of general-purpose SUS304 stainless steel grew 10%, and those of molybdenum-containing SUS316 and SUS316L stainless steel added 25%.
The prices of nickel-based stainless steel billets and extrusion are raised for the first time since October 2022, which reflects the increase in nickel prices since the Autumn of 2022 as well as the rise in prices of molybdenum, electricity, LNG, etc.
