China's Manganese Product Exports Increased MoM in Dec Thanks to its Cost Advantage

SHANGHAI, Feb 6 (SMM) - Customs data showed that China exported 24,900 mt of EMM in December 2022, a decrease of 2% month-on-month and 25% year-on-year.

During the same period, China also exported 4,400 mt of manganese products, an increase of 36% month-on-month and 89% year-on-year.

The exports of EMM and manganese products totalled 29,400 mt in December, up 37% MoM. The increase in exports is mainly contributed by manganese products.

According to SMM survey, as the manganese prices stalled in December, both upstream and downstream players were reluctant to cut prices. On the contrary, the narrowed price difference between manganese products and manganese flakes made the former cost-effective. Therefore, its export volume increased.
