Alumina Prices to Get Boost from New Transport Regulations, SMM Expects

SHANGHAI, Jun. 28 (SMM) – Flatcars are forbidden on trains from Shanxi to Urumqi in favor of container shipments, effective from 18:00 June 21, 2017.

Transport capacity for containers is already tight. This new rule will slow down shipments of alumina from Shanxi, China’s major alumina producing region, to Xinjiang, the country’s major aluminum producing region.
