Democratic lawmakers have demanded that the Trump administration refrain from supporting Australian junior company Dateline Resources' exploration and development plans in California's Mojave Desert.
US Senators Alex Padilla, Adam Schiff, and Martin Heinrich stated in a letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum that the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) recent approval of Dateline Resources' rare earth exploration violated federal law, disregarded the authority of the National Park Service (NPS), and set a "dangerous precedent" for industrial development within the US National Park System.
