[SMM Daily Commentary: Lithium Carbonate Prices Remain Stable on August 6]
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index stood at 80,450 yuan/ton, marking a 60 yuan/ton increase from the previous working day. Battery-grade lithium carbonate ranged from 78,700 to 82,300 yuan/ton, with an average price of 80,500 yuan/ton, remaining flat compared to the previous working day. Industrial-grade lithium carbonate ranged from 75,000 to 76,100 yuan/ton, averaging at 75,550 yuan/ton, also unchanged from the previous working day. From the demand perspective, although downstream material factories have slightly increased their inquiries, purchases are still predominantly driven by rigid demand. Upstream lithium salt factories and traders, considering the future price trend, currently hold a mindset of destocking and have slightly lowered their quotations. However, there is still a certain gap between the psychological expected transaction prices of both supply and demand sides, leading to a relatively sluggish overall market transaction situation. Given the current oversupply scenario, lithium carbonate prices are expected to continue operating on the weaker side.
