SMM5 March 25: after 164employees tested positive for new crown virus, AngloGold Ashanti Ltd., the world's third largest gold miner Work on the Mponeng gold mine in South Africa has been temporarily suspended.

The pits and tunnels are 370km long and meander to a depth of about 4350 meters. it takes 90 minutes for miners to reach the mining surface from the ground, as does the return journey.
But gold production at the Mponeng gold mine has declined steadily in recent years, and miners have to dig deeper to get gold.
