This week, the prices of 5-series and 6-series consumer-grade ternary cathode precursors, as well as 8-series power-grade ternary cathode precursors, remained stable.
On the raw material cost side, the prices of nickel sulphate, cobalt sulphate, and manganese sulphate all stayed stable, which also kept the prices of ternary cathode precursors steady.
Demand side, due to factors such as entering the off-season and fewer calendar days, production plans at material plants declined, leading to overall weak demand for ternary cathode precursors. Supply side, the operating rate of precursor plants after resuming work post-Chinese New Year was relatively low, resulting in a quiet market this week. Some precursor plants have already signed long-term contracts for this year, but others have yet to reach agreements due to losses, and the negotiation between buyers and sellers continues.
Looking ahead to next week, considering the sentiment to stand firm on quotes among precursor plants under losses and the expected rise in nickel salt prices, precursor prices are expected to increase to varying degrees.
