SHANGHAI, May 15 (SMM) - Anode material prices dropped slightly last week. In terms of raw materials, the prices of low-sulphur petroleum coke rebounded, driven by downstream restocking and falling inventories, while those of needle coke extended declines amid muted demand. Graphitisation orders have not improved significantly as downstream manufacturers were relying on raw material inventory on hand. The decline in graphitisation prices slowed down significantly as graphitization plants were struggling around the break-even point. With lithium prices rebounding and inventory falling to low levels at some producers, demand from NEV and energy storage sectors has picked up slightly. This, coupled with the rebound of low-sulphur petroleum coke prices, may stem decline in anode material prices.
