[Mercedes-Benz and Huineng teamed up to develop next-generation solid-state batteries for electric vehicles] on January 27th, Mercedes-Benz announced that it had signed a technical cooperation agreement with Huineng Technology, a leader in the field of solid-state batteries, to jointly develop next-generation batteries. Mercedes-Benz's first test car equipped with solid-state batteries developed in partnership with Huineng is expected to be launched in the next few years, and the two companies have agreed on a series of milestons. these milestones will enable solid-state battery technology to be carried in a range of passenger cars over the next five years.

On January 27th Mercedes-Benz announced that it had signed a technical cooperation agreement with Huineng Technology, a leader in the solid-state battery field, to jointly develop next-generation batteries. Mercedes-Benz's first test car equipped with solid-state batteries developed in partnership with Huineng is expected to be launched in the next few years, and the two companies have agreed on a series of milestons. these milestones will enable solid-state battery technology to be carried in a range of passenger cars over the next five years.

Mercedes-Benz plans to achieve pure electrification of its product line by 2030 if market conditions permit. By partnering with leaders in fast-growing solid-state battery technology, Mercedes-Benz is advancing its R & D activities, promoting further leaps in battery technology and expanding its network of best-in-class technology partners. to ensure that it always has access to the latest technology.

With its R & D and manufacturing technology in solid-state batteries, Huineng Technology is a strong partner for Mercedes-Benz to maintain a leading position in battery technology. Under the agreement, Mercedes-Benz will have a seat on Huineng's board of directors. Mercedes-Benz's investment will be used to develop solid-state battery technology and help Huineng build production capacity in Europe.

Markus Sch ä fe, chief technology officer for development and procurement and a member of the management committee of Daimler and Mercedes-Benz, said: "We believe that the range and efficiency of electric vehicles are the new industry benchmark. Solid-state technology helps reduce the size and weight of batteries, which is why we work with companies like Huineng Technology to ensure that Mercedes-Benz continues to break new ground in the automotive industry for the benefit of its customers. "

Vincent Yang, founder and CEO of Huineng Technology, also said, "We have been working with Mercedes-Benz on battery testing for electric vehicles since 2016, and we are pleased to be able to strengthen and expand our partnership. We hope to work with Mercedes-Benz to demonstrate the effective application of our safe, high-performance solid-state batteries to meet Mercedes-Benz's highest quality standards. At Huineng Technology, we have always believed that innovative technologies must be supported by production scalability. We look forward to establishing our new factory by the end of 2022 and working with our customers to succeed. "

August Solid-State Battery Standards Set the Tone + Hundred-mt Production Lines Intensively Commissioned + All-Solid-State Projects Accelerate Implementation [SMM Analysis]
[SMM Analysis: Solid-state battery standards set in August + intensive commissioning of 100 mt-class production lines + accelerated implementation of all-solid-state projects] In August 2026, the solid-state battery industry reached a critical period marked by multiple converging signals. On the policy front, the world's first international standard for solid-state batteries was successfully initiated at the IEC, and with the consumption tax exemption officially taking effect on 1 September, the institutional framework was upgraded from a "national standard" to an "international benchmark". On the materials front, sulphide electrolyte prices continued to decline, and 100 mt-class production lines entered trial production, with upstream cost restructuring clearing the way for industrialisation. On the project front, the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed an agreement for a prismatic all-solid-state battery project in Suzhou, Tuoyi Gune commenced construction of a 6 billion yuan 30 GWh project, and Xinjie Energy secured over $100 million in financing, with capital and capacity resonating in tandem. In August, the solid-state battery sector exhibited three key characteristics: "standards set, intensive commissioning of 100 mt-class production lines, and accelerated implementation of all-solid-state projects". The industry is moving from "isolated breakthroughs" to "systematic advancement".
