MMi Daily Iron Ore Report for November 30th 2020

DCE iron ore futures performed relatively strong today, main contract has risen by more than 3.5%; the spot quotation increased by around 20-30yuan/mt over yesterday in the morning.

DCE iron ore futures continued to decrease slightly today, the spot quotation decreased by around 35-40yuan/mt over yesterday. Some traders sell today with a quite pessimistic mind due to decreasing price. Steel mills tend to buy actively due to some of them would like to buy with current low price.

DCE iron ore futures continued to rise slightly today, the spot quotations tend to be stable in the morning. Some steel mills bought today on their demand, and traders sell actively.

DCE iron ore futures market slumped sharply by 6.7% and I2201 hit one-year new low of 722yuan/mt. The quotations in the morning have been up adjusted by 5yuan/mt, but traders successively offered further concessions on the prices when DCE iron ore futures market cracked down. Steel mills showed increasing intentions to purchase today, and the market activities warmed up.

As of August 13, iron ore inventories across 35 ports tracked by SMM totaled 118.65 million mt, up 200,000 mt from the previous week and 13.67 million mt year-on-year. Daily average deliveries from the 35 ports increased 141,000 mt on a weekly basis to 2.74 million mt this week. Arrivals at two major ports in Shandong soared by 60.7% to 6.3 million mt, and arrivals at two major ports in Tangshan surged by 51% to 4.32 million mt.

DCE iron ore futures main contract dropped by 4.43%, and quotations in the physical port stock market declined by 20-25yuan/mt. Steel mills from North China showed relatively active intentions in inquiring and traders offered further concessions in transaction prices. PBF in Shandong market was closed at 1190yuan/mt, with price drop of 15-25yuan/mt

DCE iron ore futures market picked up over last Friday, but quotations in the physical port stock market declined by 15-20yuan/mt. Some traders adjusted their quotations up when DCE iron ore futures market vibrated upward, and PBF was closed at 1390yuan/mt, with price hike of 25yuan/mt over last Friday.

Iron ore quotations in the physical port stock market inched down gradually when DCE iron ore futures market vibrated vulnerably. Total transactions concluded to be insipid as mills remained on-demands procurements. PBF was closed at 1470-1480yuan/mt in Shandong market, with price falling of 10-20yuan/mt over last Friday, and that in Tangshan market declined by 25yuan/mt to 1470yuan/mt.

DCE iron ore futures market continued strong momentums and some traders in the physical port stock market tended to raise their quotations in the morning session. PBF was closed at 1460-1475yuan/mt in Shandong market, with price cut of 15-20yuan/mt.

DCE iron ore futures fluctuated narrowly in the morning while rose largely in the afternoon; the physical port quotations tend to be stable over yesterday, but part of traders increased their quotations gradually with increasing DCE futures. Some steel mills’ inquiry enthusiasm has slightly improved due to upward steel price. PBF at Shandong port dealt 1515-1525yuan/mt. Other low grade iron ore also showed an active trend today.
