Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 21, BYD Commercial Vehicle held the first showcase event for the 2025 T5 light-duty truck series in Dongguan city, Guangdong province, marking the debut of the new model.

BYD Commercial Vehicle's General Manager Tian Chunlong emphasized that the 2025 T5 series was developed with user-specific needs in mind, particularly for urban logistics and delivery scenarios. With proprietary core technologies in batteries, electric motors, and electronic control units, BYD offers robust quality assurance and after-sales support, promoting both the digital and sustainable evolution of urban logistics solutions.

The 2025 T5 series is available in BEV (battery electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) versions, with the high-capacity version tailored to diverse logistics demands for both intra-city and inter-city transportation.

The battery capacity of the PHEV version, the T5DM, has increased from 18.3 kWh to 55.39 kWh. The all-electric T5 EV offers multiple options, with battery capacities ranging from 82 kWh to 132 kWh.

According to the automaker, the T5 streamlines preparation with remote control and precise route planning, saving time before deployment. Equipped with the passenger car-grade DiLink system, it enables seamless voice control for a smarter and safer driving experience. By utilizing high-strength steel and low rolling resistance tires, the vehicle ensures load-bearing capacity while maintaining low drag performance. Combined with refined energy management, overall energy consumption is reduced by 7%.

In terms of charging efficiency, leveraging industry-leading direct cooling technology for its battery, the T5 achieves an 18% improvement in heat exchange efficiency and a 60% reduction in cooling energy consumption. With upgraded battery performance, the T5 supports 2C fast charging, enabling models with battery capacities of 100kWh or less to charge from 30% to 80% SOC in just 18 minutes. Additionally, it offers an optional VtoL (Vehicle-To-Load ) mobile power station with a maximum discharge power of 6kW, meeting diverse user needs.

In addition, the T5 can be equipped with the BYD Truck APP, enabling remote control and status monitoring for effective vehicle management. Features such as maintenance-free steel leaf springs and EPS electronic steering improve maintenance efficiency. Furthermore, the fleet management system analyzes driver behavior, providing eco-driving suggestions to help users enhance operational efficiency.

During the event, BYD and its dealers signed contracts with major clients for orders involving 500 T5 vehicles. By 5 p.m. of that day, an additional 336 units had been retailed to their customers.
