[SMM Steel Shipping] Last week, China's total exports fell by 13% WoW

I. Domestic Steel Shipments

1. Shipment Data

Last week (2024.6.15-2024.6.21)

SMM reported that the total steel shipments from ports nationwide were 7.061 million mt, up 1.0399 million mt WoW, an increase of 17%. Among them, the total shipments from the six major northern ports (Jingtang Port, Caofeidian Port, Bayuquan Port, Tianjin New Port, Huanghua Port, Jinzhou Port) were 2.48 million mt, up 184,800 mt WoW, accounting for 35% of the total shipments. The total shipments from the three major ports in east China (Shanghai Port, Zhangjiagang Port, Lanbei Port) were 455,200 mt, up 7,790 mt WoW, accounting for 6% of the total shipments. The total shipments from the two major ports in south China (Zhanjiang Port, Fangchenggang Port) were 341,400 mt, down 55,400 mt WoW, accounting for 5% of the total shipments.

2. Port Arrivals Data

Last week (2024.6.15-2024.6.21)

SMM China's total steel port arrivals were 6.7396 million mt, up 558,700 mt WoW, an increase of 9%. The total port arrivals at 13 main ports in east China were 4.195 million mt, up 539,900 mt WoW, accounting for 62% of total port arrivals. The total port arrivals at Guangzhou Port in south China were 305,700 mt, up 92,000 mt, accounting for 5% of total port arrivals.

II. Steel Foreign Trade Shipping

1. Shipment Data

Last week (2024.6.15-2024.6.21)

Global (excluding China) port steel shipments totaled 1.8907 million mt, up 4% WoW. Chinese port shipments totaled 2.2458 million mt, down 13% WoW.

By product type,

In the week, global port steel plate shipments were 138,100 mt (up 52% WoW). Global port steel coil shipments were 416,100 mt (up 52% WoW). Global port pig iron shipments totaled 857,000 mt (up 6%). Global port steel billet shipments totaled 461,700 mt (up 19%).

2. Port Arrivals

Last week (2024.6.15-2024.6.21)

The total amount of steel arriving at 119 ports in China was 36.71 mt, down 121,100 mt WoW, a decrease of 25%.
