[Serbia will cooperate with the EU to mine Europe's largest lithium mine]
According to the Ministry of Commerce website, Serbian President Vucic recently told the Financial Times that Rio Tinto and the EU will provide new solutions for the exploitation of the Jadar lithium mine in western Serbia. Two years after the cancellation of the project, the Serbian government is preparing to give the green light to Rio Tinto to develop Europe's largest lithium mine, paving the way for the electric vehicle industry on the European continent. Vucic expressed confidence that he would also receive commitments from EU leaders to invest in Serbia in relation to the project, such as battery manufacturing and electric vehicle production. Vucic said that if progress is smooth, the mine may be exploited in 2028, and it is expected to produce 58,000 tons of lithium per year, enough to meet 17% of Europe's electric vehicle production, or about 1.1 million cars.
