Ferrous metals imports and exports in April

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China exported 9.224 million mt of steel in April 2024, down 664,000 mt or 6.7% MoM. Total steel exports in January-April were 35.024 million mt, up 27% YoY.

China's steel imports totalled 658,000 mt in April, up 41,000 mt or 6.6% MoM. Aggregated steel imports from January to April were 2.405 million mt, down 3.7% YoY.

China imported 101.818 million mt of iron ore and concentrate in April, up 1.1 million mt or 1.1% MoM. Total iron ore and concentrate imports in January-April were 411.821 million mt, up 7.2% YoY.

China imported 45.252 million mt of coal and lignite in April, up 3.873 million mt or 9.4% MoM. Coal and lignite imports in January-April totalled 161.154 million mt, up 13.1% YoY.
