500MW/2000MWh! Synergy's Battery Energy Storage Project Approved for Deployment in Western Australia
According to foreign media reports, the energy developer Synergy, owned by the government of Western Australia, has received planning approval to deploy a 500MW/2000MWh Collie battery energy storage system in the state. The battery energy storage project will be deployed at the location of the Collie power station (a coal-fired power station planned to be retired in 2027), which is one of two projects allocated 2.3 billion Australian dollars (1.52 billion US dollars) in funding for Western Australia in 2023-2024.
