China’s Imports of Steel Products Declined in November

China imported 752,000 mt of steel products in November 2022, a decrease of 20,000 mt month on month and a year-on-year decrease of 672,000 mt. From January to November 2022, steel imports stood at 9.867 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 25.6%. Imports of steel billets were 6.207 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 50.5%.

SHANGHAI, Jan 3 (SMM) - China imported 752,000 mt of steel products in November 2022, a decrease of 20,000 mt month on month and a year-on-year decrease of 672,000 mt. From January to November 2022, steel imports stood at 9.867 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 25.6%. Imports of steel billets were 6.207 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 50.5%.

In November, China’s exports of steel products increased for two consecutive months month on month and stood at 5.59 million mt, an increase of 406,000 mt from October, and an increase of 1.229 million mt year on year. Exports of steel products in the first eleven months of 2022 grew 0.4% year on year to 61.95 million mt. Exports of steel billet increased 955,000 mt year on year to 960,000 mt. Net exports of crude steel stood at 48.61 million mt, a year-on-year rise of 28.2%.
