China Aluminum Output Jumps in May, SMM Says

SHANGHAI, Jun. 8 (SMM) – China’s aluminum production rose significantly in May compared with a year ago, SMM statistics showed.

China produced 3.17 million tonnes of aluminum in May, up 21.6% year-on-year, and 15.21 million tonnes of aluminum during the first five months of this year, up 22.0% from a year ago, according to SMM data.

Annualized aluminum capacity in operation totaled 37.36 million tonnes nationwide in May, up 6.63 million tonnes from the same period last year.
