[SMM Lithium Battery Electrolyte Market Weekly Review: Electrolyte Prices Declined This Week (2026.4.7-4.9)] From April 7 to April 9, 2026, electrolyte prices declined. Future price trends will still need to focus on changes in upstream raw material prices.

SMM April 9 News:

Electrolyte market prices declined this week. Specifically, the average prices of electrolyte for ternary power battery, LFP, and LMO were 30,250 yuan/mt, 28,500 yuan/mt, and 22,250 yuan/mt, respectively. Cost side, overall electrolyte costs edged down this week. LiPF6 side, raw material anhydrous hydrogen fluoride prices continued to rise while lithium fluoride prices saw limited fluctuations, pushing up LiPF6 production costs; coupled with maintenance and rational production control at some producers, market inventory was partially destocked. However, as some enterprises still faced inventory pressure, they opted for volume discounts based on their shipments and subsequent business strategies. Combined with downstream continuously pushing for lower prices for cost control, LiPF6 market prices declined. Additive side, overall industry inventory remained relatively high recently, and some additive prices pulled back, driving down comprehensive electrolyte costs, with electrolyte prices declining accordingly. Demand side, recovering demand from the battery cell segment, coupled with enterprise stockpiling for the upcoming period, led to an increase in battery cell production, which in turn boosted electrolyte demand simultaneously. Supply side, the electrolyte industry largely adopted a produce-based-on-sales model. Driven by downstream demand boost, enterprises raised operating rates in line with orders, and overall industry production rose in tandem. Overall, constrained by the relatively weak bargaining power of the electrolyte industry, future price trends still require close tracking of upstream raw material price changes.

This week, the market prices for cascade-use B-grade battery cells remained generally stable. Cost side, lithium carbonate prices continued their downward trend, nickel sulphate prices edged down slightly, and only cobalt sulphate prices held firm, with overall cost support weakening. Supply side, battery cell manufacturers maintained a steady shipments pace with no significant increase, and market supply remained relatively stable. Demand side, energy storage continued to be the core market driver, but as procurement standards kept rising, B-grade battery cells, constrained by quality compliance limitations, struggled to enter the mainstream demand market, with A-grade battery cells becoming the absolute procurement preference. Among them, standard energy storage high-demand models such as 314Ah and 280Ah saw tight supply and intense competition for goods, with prices continuing to be pushed higher, while B-grade battery cells, affected by limited compliance space, maintained largely stable prices with no notable fluctuations.
