Beijing (Gasgoo)- Smart LiDAR solution provider RoboSense recently announced that its fully self-developed M-Core SoC chip received AEC-Q100 automotive-grade reliability certification in October, marking it as the world's first LiDAR-specific SoC chip to achieve this standard.

Set to debut on RoboSense's ultra-thin mid-to-long-range MX LiDAR, the M-Core-enabled MX is expected to enter mass production in early 2025.

The M-Core chip, RoboSense's inaugural self-developed SoC, integrates essential LiDAR components—including laser emission control, signal processing, MEMS management, and DDR chip—into a single chip. It manages tasks such as emission control, scan control, signal processing, and point cloud generation, boosting data processing capabilities, precision, and detail accuracy while reducing circuit board size by 50%. This miniaturization allows LiDAR devices to be more compact.

The MX LiDAR, equipped with M-Core, boasts a thin 25mm profile and 40% lower power consumption, enabling new cabin integration possibilities. The high level of integration also significantly reduces manufacturing costs, making LiDAR technology more accessible across various vehicle segments. With the MX, LiDAR will increasingly come standard on vehicles in the 200,000-yuan market and will be available as an option on 150,000-yuan car models, said RoboSense.
