Canadian mining giant First Quantum Minerals has signed an agreement with Zambia's Mimosa Resources to advance the joint development of the Fishtie copper project in the Central Province of the African country.
The joint venture, named Kashime Copper, was first announced in 2012, when First Quantum identified 500,000 tons of copper in the Fishtie deposit. Production is expected to start in 2026, with copper output increasing to 30,000 tons per year by the end of 2020.
