Prices of High-carbon Ferrochrome will Stabilise in March

SHANGHAI, Mar 21 (SMM) - SMM predicts that the prices of high-carbon ferrochrome will stabilise in March, with retail prices running between 9,000-9,300 yuan/mt (Cr50%). Although the output of stainless steel increased significantly in February, the domestic ferrochrome output increased limitedly. In addition, due to the previous news of power cuts in South Africa, the market expected the supply of ferrochrome to be tight in February. However, in January, the exports from South African increased significantly by 72% on the month, and the exports to China increased 117% month-on-month.
